The Elder Scrolls - Hammerfell (Overview

Post  Cortex on Fri Sep 12, 2008 9:27 pm

Greetings, you deluded Roleplayers

Now, being the fun person I am (Hee hee), I'm gonna assume you've never played an elder-scrolls game, and give myself a chance to 'splain it to you.

The RP will be split into four or five posts, which will include:

The Backstory of The Elder-scrolls

The Races

The Note, Rules and Main story

The character creation area

And the posting zone.

This is the overview post, which will detail the less nerdy of you, on the Elder Scrolls universe, how it was made, and so on...

So what is the Elder-scrolls universe?
The Elder scrolls universe, is based in a legendary land of magic and blade, called Tameriel.
It is split into Nine Provinces, each of which concides with their own culture and race, except for High Rock, which harbors two distinct races

High Rock
Inhabited by Bretons, Man/Elf hybrids on the human-side, and Orcs, which are self-explanitory.
The capital of said-city is Orisium.

Hammerfell
inhabited by Redguards; a race of men originally from the lost continent of Yokuda. Once housed a significant Dwwarven population. It was later Orcish territory until the landing of the Yokudans in their Ra'gada, or "Warrior Wave." It is from this wave that the Redguards take their name, and their swift, easy conquest of Hammerfell that earned them their reputation as the best soldiers upon Nirn.

Skyrim
An Icy mountain-province inhabited by Nords, hardy men of the north and the only remaining direct and unchanged descendants of the original human 'Nedic' settlers from across the now frozen Sea of Ghosts.

Morrowind
Inhabited by the blue-skinned dark-elves, or 'Dummner', it is a strange place, where the very plant life is teething with strange and often alien enviroments. It's very surface is littered with Dwarven ruins, which are often the taken residence of less fortunate People.

Black Marsh
A province of bogs, swamps and marshes, Black Marsh was home to the lizard Argonians, and some of the most dangerous plant alive.
It's also notable for it's citys, which physically move across the landscape on giant insect legs.

Elsweyr
A world of Harsh Badlands and dry plains, Elsweir is home to the Khajiit, a group of humanoid tigers.
Because half of it is a desert enviroment and the other that of a rainforest, it's culture is seriously devided in half

Valenwood
One giant forest, Valenwood is home to toe Wood-Elves, or 'Bosmer', a race of Human/Elf hybrids leaning to the Elfen side.

Summerset isles
A series of long tropical islands, The islands are home to the purebreed High-elves, a race renowned for their magic and snobbery.

And Last, but certainly not least, Cyrodil
Cyrodil, is the capital province of Tamriel, where the Humans, or Imperials have made their residence, and created the Imperial city.
The city in question is the holder of the imperial palace, where the empty throne of Cyrodil lies, and a challenge of great rewards...

And finally, the one secret place that is inhabited by every race once in a while.

The Realm of Sheogorath
Sheogorath, the deadric god of madness, has created a doorway in Cyrodil, to his mad realm.
The realm is split into two parts, that of mania and dementia.
Mania, is inhabited by the 'fun-crazies' as Sheo' dubs them, those who are tottaly bonkers.
Dementia, is residence to the darker side of insanity, that of suicide and paranoia.
Aither way, it's crazy, as just speaking to the madman-god is trouble.

The Dreadra
Every place has a religion, and in this case, it's a proven religion.
Overall, there are nine 'devine' gods, and nine'deadric' gods

The Devine gods ain't important, but provide good back story
And the only two important deadra-lords are...

Sheogorath, the god of madness and his own realm, that of his realm... thing.

And Merhunes Dagon, prince of destruction, and holder of the realms of oblivion, and the demons that inhabit them...

That's all for now. I might edit it to add some more, but I'm gonna start on the other posts...
